Service to humanity for the betterment of our community and advancement of our society is at the heart of our purpose. We place the satisfaction of our stakeholders at the centre of everything we do.
Our purpose is achieved through embedding our core values. In order to reach true understanding, however, we think deeply about the meaning of each value and principle, its application in and implications for our work and in our society. To bring this to life we take a cyclical methodology SPARC: Study (a commitment to continuous professional development driven by a thirst for knowledge), Planning (plan for the next stage whilst learning from the past), Action (systematic application and implementation of plans, targets and goals), Reflection (a reflective practice of what works and what could have worked better), and Consultation (a distinct method of non-adversarial decision-making to build consensus).
Collaborative Spirit describes the unique culture which truly embodies our organisation. Our employees are so integral to the success of everything we do – put simply, they are our organisation which is only as good as its people. Without their hard work, dedication and commitment achieving excellence is not made possible. The family culture found in our accommodation facilities underpins the trusting, supportive, tight-knit communities that our team members work hard to nurture. The democratic spirit of our organisation is what encourages openness, sincerity and respect between our team members, our residents and the external parties with whom we have an affiliation – each person’s voice and contribution is truly valued.
Unified Action in Diversity implies a common understanding of and agreement on approaches and methods to be used. Yet, reality is too complex to be grasped by one mind. Diversity of views in a group is not a negative trait to be discouraged. Unity of vision, unity of purpose, and unity of thought are all fruitless, of course, if they are not complimented by unity of action. Unity in action differs profoundly from a state of unity achieved in passiveness and inactivity. When we do not try to meet greater challenges together, the semblance of unity can be shattered under tensions that inevitably arise in collection action. Unity of purpose, vision, thought and action have to be continually nurtured and strengthened through promoting an empathic and sympathetic culture. Chief among the qualities we need in order to build and maintain unity in action are constancy, selflessness, and purity of intention – constancy for bonds of unity are ever in need of being strengthened; selflessness, for otherwise, we will simply not survive the tests and challenges we receive in the path of unity; and purity of intention, for our efforts to build lasting unity will never success unless we are motivated by the highest ideals and free from expectations of personal gain and self-exaltation. The collaborative approach to development of organisations and communities is integral to the progress of any enterprise.
Consultative Approach as a distinct method of non-adversarial decision-making to build consensus for the best course of action to benefit the Company rather than individuals or departments. A process of decision making between all parties means that everyone becomes a genuine partner of the organisation. The consultative approach empowers everyone to contribute positively towards Apax’s advancement, balancing the happiness of all those involved with a successful, responsive organisation. It also enables challenges to be resolved quickly, efficiently and with mutual respect, preserving relationships and nurturing positive future interactions.
Spirit of Service places our customers at the centre of thinking and operations whereby they collaborate and contribute in how we do things. We have a real passion for exceptional customer service. We consider every stakeholder as a customer and thus, are motivated by improving services and stakeholder satisfaction by embedding a customer orientation approach into our organisation’s decision-making and culture to achieve successful and sustainable development. In one particular term, it is about a commitment by our team members to continuously learn about our residents’ health, condition and needs as well as keeping up to date with knowledge within the health and social care sector in order to respond with informed intelligence. We are only too aware, therefore, that we provide a significant turning point in our residents’ lives and it is subsequently essential that the impact we have is nothing other than positive and truly life-changing.
Striving for Excellence in every sense is important to the growth of our vision. Through collaboration and consultation with our team members, residents and stakeholders, we continuously strive to improve ourselves through continuous professional and personal development, as well as to improve our service offerings through innovation, creative thinking and raising quality. Adhering to best practice and high standards in our work ethic is always our aim. Striving for perfection comes from inside. In is the engine that drive us. Being always eager to learn, eager to understand and eager to improve whilst choosing cooperation over competition. This is striving for excellence. Many people think we develop excellence by competing with others, when, in fact, we achieve much more through cooperation. When we compete, someone is bound to lose; when we cooperate, everyone wins. In competition, some people end up being discouraged; in cooperation, everyone is encouraged by achieving a common goal. As a result, we are able to offer better levels of support, accommodation and access to opportunities. We are always ready to listen and adopt an open-minded policy towards change and improvement. We involve residents in the shape and design of our service; suggestions and ideas, no matter how small, are always welcome!
Positive Orientation. We understand the importance of establishing a positive, enthusiastic and energetic environment in which to live and work. We know that positivity and optimism can make a huge difference in a world where so many people sometimes fail to see how lucky they are to have the fundamental things, like good health and opportunities to improve their lives. As an organisation we strive to embody an alternative perspective of wanting nothing more than to provide better workings conditions, care and empowerment for each other and for our residents. A positive attitude is infectious and inspiring. We appreciate people and their contributions; we look for the good in people and situations; we appreciate hard work and a job well done; we engage and invest in positive relationships; and avoid being negative when life doesn’t go our way as this can be so toxic to those around us. We are realistic, however, and do understand that sometimes in life we are thrown upsets and challenges, many of which may seem too hard to overcome. Yet, we continue to provide that crucial support, comfort and reassurance that others need, in order to see that life is often what you make of it. With continual, positive reinforcement from our team, empathy, guidance, acts of kindness and mutual support, we will walk through those challenges to help each other to find the path to a better, more successful, enjoyable life. We will help each other to overcome that which may seem impossible, and we hope that in turn, they too will be able to pay this forward to better the lives of others.
Empower, Engage, Enable delivered through the approach of ‘encouragement’ which is all about giving our residents and team members a greater sense of confidence to take ownership to do things themselves and thus feel enabled. It is a multi-dimensional process that nurtures potential in our residents and team members for use in their own lives, their communities and their society. Empowerment occurs at various levels, such as individual, organisation, and community. We are aware that the individual and community are fundamentally connected. In collaborations based on mutual support, diverse perspectives, and a developing unity of vision, we work toward creative and realistic solutions. This combination of individual and collective transformation is our understanding of an empowerment process. The focus is on the connection and engagement between individual action and social action achieved through a consultative process to contribute towards the improvement of our organisation and society. Whilst acknowledging the subtleties of empowerment and choices which cannot be forced, we can provide the safe environment, training, opportunities, resources and support that are needed to build know-how and confidence in order to develop capacity and capability to overcome the challenges, big or small.
Community Building and social action is a vital part of our services. By encouraging positive interactions, by accompanying efforts towards personal and collective transformation and by fostering ties of friendship with one another, we develop the capacity to ourselves as agents of change within our own lives. We develop the confidence to take active steps towards a better life and in doing so, contribute to a community life and environment that benefits others. Rather than a hollow promise of inclusivity, we facilitate a culture which promotes a mindset where our people are empowered to live and work side by side and participate towards building a vibrant local community that improves society to enrich quality of life. Our contribution towards building a better future at grassroots level ensures that our social action initiatives are sustainable: continuity, consistency, coherency, which will continue to grow organically, flourish and endure in our neighbourhoods and communities.
Equality is a universally recognised principle in an ever increasingly globalised multicultural world. We want to play our part in creating a fairer society where every individual is fairly treated irrespective of their background, culture or beliefs and thus has fair access to opportunities to reach their potential. We imbed a culture where every stakeholder has a sense of worth, is genuinely listen to, and in turn listens to and values others. We appreciate the value of differences in our diverse communities and look to discover what connects us, rather than what divides us.
