Here at Apax, we strive to provide comfortable, secure, high-quality supported accommodation for our residents.
Following the success of Summer House, our medium-support accommodation, we are very pleased to announce its expansion. The completion of a further eight self-contained bedsits now enables the Apax team to offer accommodation to 35 tenants who have a primary diagnosis of enduring mental health.
With bright, fresh interiors, our new self-contained, fully-furnished bedsits come complete with all modern comforts including: bedroom furniture, kitchen equipment and bathroom facilities. An essential starter-kit is also included to help residents to embark on independent living. Tenants will have their own key and will be able to come and go as they please.
This emphasis on promoting personal responsibility in key areas such as domestic tasks, home management and daily routines enables our residents to establish a sense of normality and pride in managing their everyday lives. Mastering these small but essential life skills can contribute significantly towards creating a positive mindset for residents which, in turn, encourages them to be motivated and more focused in striving for rehabilitation and an eventual return to leading a fully independent life.
Whilst tenants can enjoy the privacy and security of their own living quarters, Summer House also provides warm and welcoming communal areas, wherein tenants can come together to chat, socialise and support each other on their journeys to independence. There is a communal lounge with a computer which offers free internet access, as well as laundry facilities and a sizeable, pleasant garden to enjoy.
Aside from having a warm, safe place to call ‘home’ at Summer House, residents are able to benefit from our ‘3 Step Support Pathway’ which is tailored to meet each individual’s personal needs and is delivered by dedicated, caring team members and key workers. The types of daily, domestic activities our residents are encouraged to engage in not only help to build self-confidence in looking after oneself, but also allow for a continuous open dialogue between residents and their support workers in exploring areas of competence and identifying tasks where more directed support is required.
Summer House offers our residents valuable access to all the support they may need, whilst enabling them to take the crucial first steps to rebuilding self-confidence and acquiring the necessary life skills required for future independent living.
